I love Jesus Christ because of what He has done for me. I did not earn anything He has given me, but I received it as a gift given and paid for through pain, suffering, and endless mercy and love.
My soul was sick, full of doubt, unanswered questions, unworthiness, and uncertainty. As He did for the afflicted in Jerusalem, He healed me. I was blind, unwilling to see anything short of mediocrity. As if with clay, He gave me my sight. I was deaf, unwilling to accept God’s word. Because of His miraculous power, my ears have been unstopped. I was a debtor, laden with an unconquerable debt that rendered me powerless. He paid that infinite price.
Because of Jesus Christ, you can be redeemed, just as I or anyone else can. As a sculptor works with clay or marble, Jesus will take us as we are and make us into something far beyond our scope of imagining. May we ever allow His mercy to take effect upon our souls.
